2009 is a crucial year for the international efforts to address climate changes. By adopting the Bali Action Plan, the participating nations of the 2007’ United Nations Climate Change Conference agreed that in 2009 will be the last chance to achieve an agreement, if this agreement is to be approved and ratified in time for it to come into force after the Kyoto Protocol expires in 2012.
United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is ratified by 192 countries. In 2009, its 15th session will take place on 7-18 December in the Bella Center in Copenhagen.
Bella Center is a fully modern trade fair and convention centre situated in Ørestad, which is a district situated between the airport and the City. Ørestad is a new, planned town, developed (and still developing) on the basis of an international architectural competition in 1994.
Outside the congress-hall walls, a hundred of climate-related cultural events take place in Copenhagen - in museums, libraries, squares and gardens. Everybody can be a part of this important event.
